6 Ways You’re Making It Harder To Reach Your Goals

And we're in August…

Technically summer (ignore the rain!), and one of the hardest months to reach your goals.

Often the month for many that is the bulk of the school summer holidays, so any form of health and fitness ‘result' gets put on the back burner.

So this month we are all about making your healthy lifestyle EASIER …

And one big way to do that is to get rid of the things that are blocking you from your goals.

I’ve got a quick list of 6 things you can stop doing… so you can start getting results in August (or in fact any time!).

Ready? Let’s go!

6 Ways You’re Making it Harder to Reach Your Goals

1. Aiming too high. This is a recipe for failure and frustration.

Goals like shedding 14 pounds in a few weeks… running a 10km in certain time.

Instead, set smaller, realistic targets to fuel your long-term progress. If this is an area you struggle with, a coach can help, so reach out to us.

For a lot of our clients, their goal for August is simple.  Do not go backwards.

That is it.

They are not trying to lose weight, gain muscle, or up their speed, strength or stamina. Just don't go backwards from where they are right now.

2. Comparing yourself to others. It's okay to draw inspiration from others but don't let their progress define your worth.

Your journey is unique, so own it and celebrate your progress – even if that is hitting two workouts a week for the next few weeks CONSISTENTLY, rather than aiming for more and feeling like a failure when life gets in the way.

We had a classic example just this week about one client commenting to another about their ability to train so much last month with ‘kids off school'…

The reason? Her partner is on gardening leave!

Don't compare yourself to others. Focus on your own journey and success.

3. Over-restricting your diet. Eliminating foods (and food groups), skipping meals, or obsessing over the scale is not only discouraging… but it can lead to cravings, fatigue, and a serious lack of motivation.

Aim for a balanced, enjoyable lifestyle that supports your health and wellbeing at this moment in time.

4. Navigating without a plan. Having a proven game plan to take you from where you are NOW to where you want to be will save you time and effort. Otherwise, you’re relying on guesswork to reach your goal.

What is your plan for August? Does it need to be tweaked from other times of year to make it realistic and sustainable?

5. Short-term vision. Being fit for a holiday or an event is great… but staying in shape is even better.

Consider your long-term health and avoid the exhausting cycle of temporary fitness, or a certain number on the scale, or a specific look in the mirror.

6. Isolating yourself. Everyone needs support. A strong support network or a great coach can hold you accountable and help you reach your goals even faster.

Having someone in your corner cheering you on when your routine is out of whack is invaluable!

Especially at a time of year when your routine and lifestyle pressures might be different.

If this is an area you need help with, make sure you check out our Summer Strength & Tone Programme.

You’ll get support and encouragement from a group of like minded ladies with the same lifestyle factors going on right now…

And the education and accountability from a team of coaches that understand how to adapt the programme to suit your current needs.

Remember… what you DON’T do is just as important as what you DO do in reaching your goals.

Don't try to be and do everything this summer.

Let's have a great month together (and hope the sun comes out!)

Chris
